Welcome, my friend! I’m Meiyi Cheng (“May-Yee”), a minimalist nomad that lives ecstatically.
I was born on the Tibetan Plateau and grew up on the east coast of China. I spent the first half of my 20s living in the United States. Life was good, but I always felt something missing. I yearned for a change: a nomadic lifestyle that challenges me to grow in every aspect possible.
After much consideration, in early 2016, I quit the 9 to 5 job, sold and gave away my belongings, and packed my life into a backpack. I took the plunge and became a nomad! So far in the journey, I have been blessed with a ten-week-long solo bike tour up the California coast, serendipitous Ayahuasca ceremonies that literally came to me and beautiful encounters with Awakin Circles in the Bay Area. Then I moved back to Asia, lived in Thailand and Cambodia for four months. I’m currently in settling into Ubud, Bali.
In between all these experiences, the profundity and the practicality of yoga and meditation captured my heart. I started practicing yoga and meditation on a daily basis. I became vegetarian and am currently transitioning into vegan. I also started writing poems again thanks to the inspirations that came my way in Chiang Mai as well as the supportive open mic community at Healing House. Check what I’m up to now.
